The Effects of Emotion-Focused Interaction Training of Parents on the Target Behaviors of Children Who Are Non-adaptive to School

Abstract
The Purpose of this study was to identify the effects of parental emotion-focused interaction training program on the levels of the problematic behaviors of children with school related difficulties. Each 2 pairs of elementary children and their mothers were assigned to each 5 group. Emotion-focused interaction parental education was proceeded to 4 parents in experimental group, with or without individual play therapy to each 2 children. Problem-solving focused interaction parental education was proceeded in compared group of 4 parents also with or without individual play therapy to each 2 children. Individual play to the child only with therapist was proceeded to the control group of children without any type of parental education. Pre and post tests with parenting style, parent-child interaction play assessment, and problems index of children¡¯s behavior were executed. The data were analyzed with SPSS WIN. v.19. Results are as follows: Emotion-focused interaction parental education made no significant changes in the levels of parents¡¯ perceived parenting styles with most significant changes in the levels of parent-child interaction play assessment and the several areas of parents¡¯ rating levels of problems index children¡¯s behavior. Conclusions were presented with the discussion of practical impacts of parental intervention programs for the children with school related difficulties.
